In 1916, three businessmen working for competing paper companies, recognized a need for increased competition in the Omaha paper and supply market.

CK (Clif) Field, John F. (Frank) Hamilton and Lee A. Smith founded Field-Hamilton-Smith Paper Co. and immediately established connections with some of the same mills that continue to serve us today.

Throughout the years, we’ve made many changes to adapt to the changing needs of our customers. In the late 40’s we changed our name to Field Paper Co. and Jim Field, son of Clif Field, became our President.

The introduction of palletizing and the invention of the forklift in the late 50’s required many changes. One of which was an increased need for space. We made our first of two moves at that time. In 1967, the building of the interstate required us to move again. This time we built a 50,000 sq. ft. facility in an industrial tract in central Omaha, where we remain today.

In 1978, we acquired Rosebud Graphics and expanded our services to include graphic arts supplies. This includes but is not limited to film, printing plates and ink.

In 1984, we recognized a need in the Iowa paper market. We established an office/warehouse in Des Moines to serve central and eastern Iowa. In 1997, we built a 50,000 sq. ft. office/warehouse facility in Ankeny. Today, Field Paper is managed by Michael Freeland, President.
